Infrared Perfection

A state-of-the-art FLIR P-Series camera is the perfect instrument for users who know the advantages that infrared has to offer, and who rely on an infrared camera at work. Whether you are an infrared consultant or a PDM professional in the utilities or manufacturing industry, the FLIR P-Series infrared cameras will help you trace anomalies invisible to the human eye. They provide superior thermal and visual image quality, spot size resolution, and temperature measurement accuracy, and a host of advanced features make the P-Series the best engineered, best infrared cameras on the market today.

The P-Series infrared cameras are ideal for the predictive maintenance and non-destructive inspections. As a thermographer at a utility company or at a production or manufacturing plant, flexibility and focus is required, both from you and your camera. You may have to operate – and the camera has to function properly — in confined, remote, dark, poorly accessible areas.

The integration of an infrared camera, digital camera, GPS (P660) video light and laser pointer allows you to do more inspections within a shorter time frame. All captured information is seamlessly integrated into the FLIR Reporter™ software allowing for powerful temperature analysis and automatic reporting. The flexibility of the FLIR P-Series will allow for efficient use regardless of application and user preferences.

Feature Details

  • Powerful and interchangeable infrared lenses. A large diameter lens means more IR radiation reaches the detector, resulting in high quality IR images. The high precision germanium lenses in the P-Series have integral USM focusing mechanism and are designed to take full advantage of the 640x480 pixel FPA detector. The P-Series features a standard 24° lens and optional 7°, 12°, and 45° lenses.
  • 640x480 pixel resolution. Higher resolution improves your inspections providing higher accuracy of measured temperatures spotting even small objects from a distance. This is of critical importance to many thermographers who need to minimize risk of missing faults that can develop to catastrophic failures.

With higher resolution a hotspot appears more clearly, also the temperaturemeasurement is more accurate. With higher resolution a hotspot appears more clearly, also the temperaturemeasurement is more accurate.

With a higher resolution camera you cover a bigger object with only one image. With lower resolution more images are needed to cover the same area with the same level of details in the image.

  • High sensitivity. The thermal sensitivity in the FLIR P-Series ranges from 65mK (P620) to < 45 mK (P660) depending on model. The higher the sensitivity is, the better the camera is able to capture the finest image details, even at low temperature differences. High detector sensitivity is particularly important for building applications where temperature differences are typically lower.

  • High quality visual camera. All P-Series models include an integrated 3.2 Mpixel visual camera, fixed lens, autofocus and lamp for shooting in dark environments.
  • Contrast Optimizer (only P660). The Contrast Optimizer is a unique feature that enhances infrared images of objects having a lot of fine details. It optimizes automatically the brightness and contrast adjustment to make it easier to make thermal analyzes of detailed objects. Contrast Optimizer is an advanced military image processing technology for the first time implemented in a commercial infrared camera.
  • Measurement range. Electrical applications demand a higher measurement range that e.g. building applications.  The P-Series measures temperatures from -40° to +500 °C.
  • MPEG-4 video. With the FLIR T400 you can create visual and infrared non radiometric MPEG -4 video files.
  • Remote Control. Wireless remote control is an optional feature compatible with P660, P640 and P 620. It comforts and safety for hazardous measurements or inspections in remote places. Supports WLAN and MPEG video on remote.

FLIR embedded Geographic Positioning System (GPS) automatically documents satellite coordinates. The system enables technicians to view, analyze and directly localize infrared images from many different locations easily and quickly. It will also guide inspection and field repair teams to the correct location.

  • Embedded GPS tags in the IR images allow you to zoom in on exact locations and speed up repairs.

Infrared images become geo-referenced and can be loaded into the Reporter software, offering links to available map and satellite imagery information systems (like Google® Earth) that indicates the geographic location of the images. P660 only – and upgraded versions of P620 & P640.

  • Laser locator. A conveniently located button activates the laser locator that will help you associate the hot or cold spot in the IR image with the real physical target in the field.
  • Flexible Interfaces. Easy access to composite video connection, USB, FireWIre, and a direct connection to charge the battery inside the camera.
  • MPEG-4 video. Create visual and infrared non radiometric MPEG-4 video files.
  • Thermal Fusion. FLIR's Thermal Fusion, merging visual and infrared images, allows for easier identification and interpretation of infrared images. On the FLIR P660 camera, the overlay function operates in real time.

  • Define whether to display areas above or below a predefined temperature threshold, or a temperature interval.

  • Picture-in-Picture. Create an infrared overlay on your visual image. Scalable, moveable and resizable. This feature helps to spot and highlight sensitive or dangerous temperature developments and makes report interpretation easy even for a person unfamiliar with infrared./li>

  • Text and voice annotations. Text comments can be uploaded to the camera through a wireless IrDa interface. A headset can be connected to make voice annotations.
  • Thumbnail image gallery. An easy-to-access thumbnail image gallery helps you to quickly review and find your infrared images.
  • Radiometric JPEG. FLIR uses a non proprietary radiometric JPEG image format that allows for post processing and report writing with Microsoft Word® based FLIR software. Single image/periodic storage.
  • Intelligent battery system. The Li-Ion battery of the P-Series gives the user autonomy of over 3 hours IR inspections. The battery can be charged while still in the camera, in a 2-bay charger or in a car.
  • Automatic focus and Manual focus, Digital zoom. Dual focus possibilities including autofocus.
  • Tiltable viewfinder. The high-resolution viewfinder is tiltable and can be adapted to the individual user. It is an absolutely necessary feature for outdoor use as it shows a very sharp image without influence of ambient light and reflections.
  • Large LCD screen. Super size 5.6” foldable high-quality LCD screen allows you to see the smallest details and temperature differences.
  • P54 standard. The P-Series meets the IP54 standard, is dust-proof and water splash-proof, and is designed to be used in harsh industrial environments and weather conditions.
  • Temperature sound, image alarms. Make surveying easier and faster.
  • Measurement Modes:
    • Movable measurement spots.
    • Automatic hot/cold detection; auto hot or cold spot meter markers within area.
    • Isotherms; an isotherm replaces certain colors in the scale with a contrasting color, which simplifies detecting a problem. Detect high, low and interval temperatures. An isotherm has a width and a temperature level which can be moved and stretched up and down in the scale.

    • An isotherm highlights the temperature distribution in a transformer.

    • ΔT (Delta T) calculation. ΔT means the difference of the results between two measurement tools or one tool and a manually set reference temperature.
    • Object parameters; possible to input values for emissivity, reflective apparent temperature, relative humidity, distance and atmospheric temperature.
  • Multi-angle handle with integrated direct access buttons. A turnable control grip allows you to use the camera in the most comfortable position. The buttons and joystick to control the camera are integrated in this handle and always stay right underneath your fingertips. Functions like auto focus, freezing and storing of images are just a button away.
  • Programmable direct access buttons. For increased flexibility the operator can program buttons located on the top of the camera to change color palettes, emissivity settings or temperature ranges, or activate analysis tools such as spots and areas.
