NIGHT VISION

Unlike thermal imaging, which detects small differences in temperature, night vision amplifies extraneous light from the stars, moon, and nearby lights. Military, police, and first responders use Gen 2, 3, and 4 night vision technology to enhance their vision at night, often with sufficient detail to positively identify an individual or specific object. Night vision does not work in complete darkness and can be blinded by headlights or other strong light sources, as well as by obscurants such as smoke, dust, and fog.
